Paint Guide

At Fox we have made a start at producing a paint guide for your reference to aid you in re-painting your model in the correct colours. Many of the popular liveries are listed below but there are some omissions. We will be adding to this guide when further time/information permits. We hope that you will find the references we have included of some use.

The paint shade information listed below is provided as a guide, and is correct to the best of our knowledge, information received and observations made. It is possible that there are exceptions: roof colours, for instance, (always a contentious subject) have in some cases had to be guessed. We cannot accept responsibility for errors made by either ourselves or our customers in these matters, and would counsel, as ever, detailed subject research and checking of information where possible.

PROVINCIAL/REGIONAL LIVERIES

Since the demise of the corporate blue and blue/grey colour schemes of the late 1960s and the 1970s, there have been many livery colourways applied to the 'country' trainsets of BR. Many have been purely experimental and while some may have been seen on revenue-earning service trains, we have to exclude them from this paint guide because the paint shades used are not currently available. What we provide below, therefore, is a breakdown of the shades used in the authorised service train history of BR's provincial lines over the last fifteen or so years.
